POTSDAM — The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce is switching things up a bit in an effort to connect with its members in light of the pandemic, by hosting a virtual coffee hour Thursday, Jan. 13 at 8:30 a.m.
The event will be similar to events that the organization has held in the past, only this time it will be held online on Zoom.
“In 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, we held an in person event at Jernabi Coffeehouse that allowed current and interested chamber members to meet with the board of directors, ask questions and provide updates from their workplace,” Chamber Director Kurstin Stowell told North Country This Week.
The director said networking events hosted by the chamber like the virtual coffee hour have a similar mission, “to bring together business representatives from the Potsdam area in a relaxed, casual manner.”
“Though we would have loved to host this event at a local coffee shop, we felt that it would be more inclusive to all if it were online due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in St. Lawrence County,” she said. “No matter what our turnout looks like, we are happy to be able to provide the option for local professionals to connect with our board of directors.”
On the agenda for discussion by the members and the chamber officials are 2022 plans for the Chamber including events and other initiatives, a roundtable where all participants are given the opportunity to introduce themselves and share information about their workplace, and a time for questions.
