POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Central School District is accepting applications for pre-Kindergarten enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year.
There are no income eligibility requirements. Applications can be completed at www.potsdam.k12.ny.us/. Space is limited.
To be eligible: Child must be a resident of the Potsdam Central School District (proof of residency required), child must be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2020 (state issued birth certificate required) and all pertinent documents and the application completed as soon as possible
The program is taught by NYS certified elementary teachers, and each room is also staffed with a classroom aide.
“Our pre-Kindergarten program offers a high-quality early childhood education experience within a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment,” a press release from the school said. “Our focus is on developing the whole child making learning meaningful for each individual student. Emphasis is placed on socialization and school readiness so that children can enter our full-day Kindergarten program with the skills they need in order to be successful. We also maintain a strong connection to families by involving parents in classroom activities, establishing effective two-way communications, and incorporating ideas and languages from a child’s home and culture into the school environment.”
Each class operates for approximately 2.5 hours per day. The morning session begins at 8:30 a.m. and dismisses at 11:05 a.m. and the afternoon session begins at 12:30 p.m. and dismisses at 3:05 p.m. Bus transportation is available to and from school each day for all children. The children will have a snack daily and outdoor recess as the weather permits.
