Potsdam Central School Board of Education member resigns, candidates sought to fill term

POTSDAM – Potsdam Central School Board of Education member Jared Carey has resigned, prompting a search for candidate.

“Due to a recent resignation, the Potsdam Central School District Board of Education will appoint a candidate to serve the final year of a three-year term, finishing June 30, 2020. They invite qualified members of the community who are interested in being considered for this vacancy to submit letters of interest,” a release from the district said.

Letters should be sent by Friday, June 28 to:

The Board of Education will conduct interviews of all interested candidates before making a final selection. The interviews will be conducted in sessions open to the public.

Generally, school board candidates must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, qualified voters in the school district and able to read and write. They must be residents of their districts continuously for one year before the election. At the time when the board member takes office, they cannot be employed by the board on which they serve or live in the same household with a family member who is also a member of the same school board.
