North Country This Week
St. Lawrence County Legislators met Monday at the Gouverneur Fair, but poor audio for those who could not attend in person made it difficult for those following at home.
Each year the county holds one meeting on the Gouverneur Fairgrounds in support of the fair.
The meeting was not well attended in person and online viewers struggled to hear the majority of discussions.
Legislator David Forsythe, who was attending remotely, left the meeting earlier as he could not participate effectively due to the audio feed.
The county’s presence at the Gouverneur Fair will continue throughout the week as public health officials intend to offer free walk-in vaccinations.
Clinics will be held Tuesday Aug. 3 from 2 to 7 p.m., Wednesday Aug. 4 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday Aug. 5 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday Aug. 6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday Aug. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
St. Lawrence County saw 22 new cases of COVID-19 since Thursday, according to a report from St. Lawrence County Administrator Ruth Doyle. She said the county has 44 active cases and has moved from the low to moderate transmission rate category.
