POTSDAM – A Pierrepont man was jailed after being charged Friday with third degree criminal possession of a weapon and failure to register as a sex offender, both felonies, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Alan S. Klemko, 46, of 45 Burt Wood Park Rd., Pierrepont, was charged about 6:25 p.m. after deputies were called to the Village of Potsdam. Deputies responded after receiving information Klemko was in possession of a long gun and the family was concerned for his safety.
During the investigation, it was determined Klemko was a convicted felon and could not be in possession of a firearm, said deputies. He was also charged with possession of marijuana.
Village police assisted in the arrest.
Klemko was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond, deputies said.
