CANTON – Board certified Physiatrist Ian Cole, MD, has joined St. Lawrence Health’s (SLH) medical team. His office is located at the St. Lawrence Medical Campus, 6119 US Route 11, Canton.
Dr. Cole is American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation certified, and earned his medical degree from SUNY at Brooklyn Downstate, College of Medicine, Brooklyn, NY. He completed his residency at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY; and finished his internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center, New York.
Dr. Cole comes to SLH with extensive experience treating patients with musculoskeletal injuries, who have acute or chronic pain, and/or require a referral for physical therapy.
“As a Physiatrist, I listen to my patients and find out what their capabilities and limitations are, and try to maximize the way they function and achieve their goals,” Dr. Cole said.
“I was a traveling doctor and worked in several states, and now I am bringing new skills and ideas to the St. Lawrence Health community,” he added. “Working in a rural setting is different for me, and I am enjoying seeing new people in a new environment where I can expand my horizons.”
As a physiatrist, Dr. Cole’s goal is to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to individuals with physical impairments or disabilities affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. He expertly designs a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan for his patients by utilizing cutting-edge and time-tested treatments.
