Due to difficult conditions inside of the structure, Tower 5 was placed in the front of residence and extended to the roof to perform vertical ventilation. West Stockholm Fire arrived on scene with manpower and began to work on overhaul and extinguishment on the 2nd floor of the structure. A second large diameter supply line was laid from Leroy and Broad streets to bring additional water to the scene.

"During the incident, a civilian vehicle drove over the charged large diameter hose causing a puncture in the hose which could have catastrophically failed at any time during the incident," fire officials said.

The owners of the home were not injured but a pet suffered smoke inhalation and burns.

Firefighters administered oxygen to the dog using a pet oxygen mask that was previously donated to the department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at the time.
