PARISHVILLE -- A Colton woman was hurt and a St. Regis Falls man was charged with driving while intoxicated and other infractions in connection with an accident on Woodruff Road at the Old Potsdam-Parishville Road Thursday.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies say that Joseph R. Hendershot, 26, of 325 Lake Ozonia Rd., St. Regis Falls, was northbound on Woodruff Road in his 2006 Pontiac when he failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection and the car went off the road into a small stream.
Hendershot and his passenger, Ashley L. Perkins, 21, of 58 Hanson Rd., Colton, were able to get out of the car and reach the road to get help, deputies report.
Hendershot was arrested at the scene after deputies arrived, and processed at the sheriff's office in Canton. He is charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol level in excess of .08 percent, aggravated unlicensed operation, and the stop sign violation. He is to be in Town of Parishville Court on Nov. 16.
Perkins was taken to Canton-Poptsdam Hospital by Parishville Rescue, and was re;eased after treatment of what deputies said were minor injuries.
