MASSENA — Students, parents and faculty alike will now have an easier time leaving J.W. Leary Junior High School and Trinity School thanks to a no parking or standing law.
Village officials voted unanimously at the Jan. 18 village board meeting to restrict parking between Highland Park and Garvin Avenue following community feedback regarding safety concerns.
Residents had previously proposed the change citing safety concerns for students walking, as well as drivers who were attempting to leave either school.
The decision comes through a unanimous, 5-0 vote by village officials.
The new law will take effect immediately, with parking restricted between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on school days.
