PARISHVILLE — The Parishville-Hopkinton Central School Board of Education plans to interview the final two candidates for its vacant high school principal position on Monday, March 25.

The job will likely be filled by Nicole Weakfall or Steve Coffin. Peter Arquette, a PHCS alumnus, is no longer a candidate, after having made the final three.

Weakfall has been interim elementary principal at PHCS since December when the school board voted to fire Virgina “Ginny” Doll. Weakfall has her C.A.S. from SUNY Stony Brook, masters from SUNY Potsdam, and B.S. from St. Lawrence University.

Coffin, who has been principal of Gouverneur Middle School since 2012, has his C.A.S., masters, and B.S. from St. Lawrence University.

The district received 19 applications for the position. A 20-member Search & Screening Committee reviewed the applications and sent the top five candidates to a 14-member interview panel. The panel then sent their top three finalist candidates to Superintendent William “Bill” Collins.

Superintendent Collins interviewed the candidates earlier this month and then presented the school board with two names. He expects the Board to make a July 1 appointment.
