OGDENSBURG -- One person died following a fire Sunday morning on Mechanic Street, according to city fire officials.
Firefighters responded shortly before 6 a.m. to a reported house fire with entrapment on the 1000 block of Mechanic Street.
"Shift 4 under the command of Capt. Eric Brunet responded on Engine 3 and Quint 1 with 5 total personnel," officials said. "Units arrived and Capt. Brunet established command and declared a working fire."
Heuvelton Fire was requested for mutual aid.
Members secured a water source and placed ladders to the area reported to have a person near it.
As crews made entry the second floor became more evolved with fire, officials said.
Firefighters began extinguishing the fire and performing a search simultaneously.
As the fire progressed, a request was made to Morristown and Rensselaer Falls to provide more manpower.
Off-duty and Heuvelton firefighters arrived and were put to work stretching back up lines and performing ventilation.
The fire is under investigation by OFD, OPD, and State fire.
"Thank you our mutual aid partners Heuvelton and Morristown," Ogensburg fire officials said.
The name of the deceased was not made public.
