Ogdensburg Zonta accepting scholarship applications

OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Area Zonta Club is seeking applications for 2020 scholarship awards.

Applications for all three high school awards are accepted from Ogdensburg, Morristown, Lisbon, Heuvleton, and Hammond School Districts.

• The High School Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who are pursuing higher education. The award is based on definite standards of scholarship, character, leadership, service to their school and community and their desire to succeed.

• The Young Women in Public Affairs Award recognizes young women, ages 16 to 19, who demonstrates superior leadership skills and a commitment to public service and civic causes that encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life.

• Jean M. Coon Humanitarian Award is given to a high school junior or senior student who performs outstanding community service. Academic achievement is not relevant.

The Zonta Club of Ogdensburg also awards the Adult Learner Scholarship. This scholarship is given to a female non-traditional student who is at least 25 years old, is a permanent resident of St. Lawrence County, and lives within 25 miles of Ogdensburg. Applicants must have completed at least one year of higher education and be currently enrolled in college.
