OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg YCC Crew has helped set up for the Founders Day Weekend in Ogdensburg at Lighthouse Point.

They worked to clear the field where the annual Fort de la Presentation is held. Celebrating its 251st anniversary this weekend, Tim Cryderman, the chairman of Founders Day, was happy to have YCC’s help, and James Hough exuded gratitude for the crew and YCC for the 10 years of assistance they have offered the Founders Day Board.

The crew whacked weeds, cleared brush on the shoreline, cut down branches, straightened a fence, and made an entrance for the actors. They also set up Founders Day boards around the city to advertise the event.

The Ogdensburg Crew are all first-year members, Caleb Christman said he likes “being outside and learning how to use the equipment.” All members agreed they have learned a lot of history about Ogdensburg and the French and Indian War from Hough, who oversaw their work. Crew Supervisor Kelli McBurnie said she has “focused workers” in her crew. She also noted that the they “interact well” and are “very respectable”.

This crew has also cleared trails at Indian Creek and Maple City Trail, and painted bleachers and benches at Montroy Park in recent weeks.
