Ogdensburg Seek ‘N’ Find will close after decades of operation

OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg’s Seek ‘N’ Find thrift store will close after decades of operation.

“The Salvation Army Corps in Ogdensburg will continue to serve those in need with its social services and religious programs, but the Seek ‘N’ Find Thrift Store at 727 State Street will close its doors on June 22nd after serving the community for decades,” a release from the Salvation Army says.

The Salvation Army regularly reviews the financial performance of its stores, services and programs to ensure maximum efficiency. Traffic and sales in the store have declined for several years and the store was becoming a strain on The Army’s operational budget, the release says.

Captain Ann Marie and Lieutenant Mark Devanney are the officers in charge of the store. They said the decision to close the store was a difficult one.

“It’s ending a chapter of ministry to the community,” she said,

The Salvation Army is preparing to close the store and is not taking donations of clothing, furniture or household items.

“The Salvation Army would like to thank the people of Ogdensburg for their support over the years,” the release says.

The Salvation Army’s Corps at 401 Franklin Street still offers a food pantry and a weekly soup kitchen.

The Corps will also fight hunger through its summer feeding program. It will be offered five days a week for those in need who are 18 and under.

All are welcome to worship services on Sunday mornings at 11. For more information on The Salvation Army’s Ogdensburg Corps or its programs, call (315) 393-3351
