OGDENSBURG – For the first time in years, Ogdensburg may have a vendor for Dobisky Center concessions.
A May 18 public hearing will allow the public to comment on a concession lease agreement for the Ogdensburg visitor center.
Matthew Rose responded to the city’s request for proposals. According to the resolution, Rose has “demonstrated the experience and expertise to support this type of food service.”
Councilor Nichole Kennedy questioned the terms of the lease at the Monday, May 10 City Council meeting. City Manager Steve Jellie said details had not been finalized yet, as Rose expressed interest in leasing the concession area for a full year, rather than just a season.
Councilor Dan Skamperle said he wanted to ensure that inspections were done by the city to ensure the equipment and appliances were kept in good order by any new vendor.
Mayor Jeffrey Skelly said he was pleased to have someone interested in reopening the facility and that it would be a nice improvement for the city’s waterfront area.
The Dobisky visitor center is located on the waterfront by the city’s marina.
The public hearing will be May 18 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
In a brief interview with the city manager he said Rose may be interested in serving alcohol at the center as well.
