OGDENSBURG — State troopers have charged a 19-year-old Ogdensburg man for possessing stolen license plates.
Troopers charged Elliot D. Roberts for fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on Jan. 2.
He was also issued vehicle and traffic law violations.
Troopers were patrolling on New York Avenue in the City of Ogdensburg on Jan. 2 when they observed a 2011 red Jeep with possible stolen license plates.
The Troopers searched the registration using the DMV portal and it showed the license plates were stolen.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Roberts.
After being charged, Roberts was transported to SP Ogdensburg for processing.
He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the City of Ogdensburg Court on a later date in January.
Roberts was also issued vehicle and traffic law tickets for equipment violation-broken glass, unlicensed operator, operating a motor vehicle without inspect certificate, unregistered motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
He is to appear in city court on those charges at a later date as well.
