OGDENSBURG — An Ogdensburg man is charged with manslaughter after he allegedly left his 11-month old daughter unattended in the bathtub, according to court documents..
Trevor James Samarco was charged with second-degree manslaughter following a police investigation on May 11.
Police responded to a complaint at 423 Belmont Courts at 11:30 a.m. Ogdensburg Fire Department, Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad and Ogdensburg Police Department members performed lifesaving measures upon arrival, but despite the efforts the baby was pronounced deceased at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center a short time later, police said.
Samarco was charged with second-degree manslaughter that evening after an investigation revealed he allegedly left the infant unattended in a bathtub while falling asleep in another room on a bed, according to court documents.
Samarco was arraigned by the Honorable Marcia Lemay and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 Bail / $20,000 Bond.
Assisting the Ogdensburg Police Department were assisted in the investigation by St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office, St. Lawrence County Probation Department, and Child Protective Services.
Samarco is due in Ogdensburg City Court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, May 16, at 1 p.m. before Judge LeMay.
