OSWEGATCHIE – An Ogdensburg man was arrested for drunk driving after allegedly nearly striking a state trooper Sunday night.

State police arrested James D. Wright, 62, Middle Road, Ogdensburg, for driving while intoxicated. Wright was stopped after he almost struck a state trooper who was conducting a separate traffic stop on State Highway 812 shortly before 9:45 p.m., police said.

Wright was also cited for the misdemeanor of reckless driving and failure to use due care when passing a pedestrian.

Police said Wright was found to have a .17 percent blood alcohol content level, more than twice the .08 percent threshold for DWI.

He was released and ordered to appear in Town of Oswegatchie Court Sept. 15, police said.
