OGDENSBURG – City police arrested an Ogdensburg man on firearms possession, menacing and other charges after responding to a report of a domestic incident on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Joshua D. Lampett, 19, of 219 Spring St., was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony; and second-degree menacing, criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, all class A misdemeanors. More charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Police said the charges follow their investigation of an alleged domestic incident at Lampett’s resident. Officers said Lampett allegedly menaced a victim with a handgun and choked them.

A search warrant was executed at Lampett’s residence, and police uncovered a large quantity of marijuana, concentrated cannabis, an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, a shotgun and a handgun.

After being charged, Lampett was arraigned in city court by Judge Gary Alford and released on his own recognizance.

The Ogdensburg Police Department was assisted by the Ogdensburg Police Department’s K9 Unit, the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
