OGDENSBURG -- Earlier this month, the Ogdensburg City School District’s Kiwanis K-Kids made a donation of food items to the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center.

The 70 student members in grades K-6 at John F. Kennedy Elementary School created food drive posters to be hung throughout the school.

Student members also decorated donation boxes for each classroom in their school building. Items were collected during the week of October 17-21.

The donations from the JFK faculty, student body, and families have an estimated value of $1,500, and were presented to Tina Keller of the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center by the K-Kids club members.

The K-Kids at John F. Kennedy Elementary is a service club for students in Kindergarten through sixth grade.

The club is student led, and aims to develop competent, capable, and caring leaders through the vehicle of service. With the guidance of the club advisor, Christina Frank, the support of the Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club, and JFK Staff volunteers, students complete a monthly service project.

In addition to the October Food Drive, past projects include a coin drive to support the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, creating Christmas cards for troops with Senator Pattie Ritchie, and decorating local nursing homes for the holidays.
