OGDENSBURG – The Ogdensburg Fire Department will begin its summer fire hydrant flushing program on Monday, July 11 on Adams Avenue portion of the city's hydrant system, and proceed to the northern end of the coverage area off of Proctor Ave.
The flushing program will take place Monday through Friday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. until all hydrants are flushed. It is necessary for proper maintenance of the city’s water distribution system and this procedure provides an opportunity to test and evaluate the condition of the city's fire hydrants. In addition, this will also help remove sediment that has accumulated in the water mains.
Residents are urged to check that their water is running clear before starting laundry at this time, if the water is still discolored, please run cold only until clear.
Local businesses will be attempted to be notified in advance of hydrant flushing in their area.
If there are any questions regarding hydrant flushing, residents are urged to contact the Ogdensburg Fire Department at (315) 393-2321.
