Ogdensburg Chamber announces holiday lighting display winners

OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce has chosen the holiday lighting display winners after they and people from the community viewed entries Monday from a bus provided by Laidlaw Education Service.

St. Lawrence NYSARC provided a bus for special needs residents of Riverview Towers. The NYSARC bus followed behind the chamber judges, enabling everyone in the community to enjoy this holiday tradition. Community members chose the winners in the People’s Choice category.

First and second place winners were selected in four categories.

Holiday Spirit:

1st place, Mike Estes, wins $100 sponsored by St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union

2nd place, Tess and Tom Tracy,

$25 sponsored by Oscar’s.

Traditional:

1st place, “River Ride” at the Visitor’s Center, $100 sponsored by North Country Savings Bank

2nd place, Mike Skelly, $25 sponsored by Big Cheese Pizza.

Religious:

1st place, Larry Tombolillo, $100 sponsored by First Baptist Church

2nd place, St. John’s Episcopal Church, $25 sponsored by Ed-Med Credit Union.

People’s Choice:

1st place, Bonnie and Paul Haley, $100 sponsored by Penski Staffing, Inc.

2nd place, Jonathan Masters, $25 sponsored by Peebles Department Store.

In addition, the chamber awarded honorable mention to Gary Ladouceur and his neighbors for the North Pole Village they have created in the park on Main and Ogden Streets.

“This is the kind of spirit we hope will inspire others to transform their neighborhoods during the holidays,” the chamber said.
