OGDENSBURG -- First responders saved a 2-year-old boy from drowning on Wednesday, and the child is now recovering in Syracuse.
City police say around 4:36 p.m., they along with Ogdensburg Fire and Rescue were dispatched to 325 Park St. for a report of a 2-year-old boy drowning in a pool.
Police say their first patrol car arrived less than a minute later to find relatives and a good Samaritan performing CPR.
Ptl. Ryan Brown “took over CPR and continued performing life saving measures until Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on scene,” police said.
Ogdensburg Fire and Ogdensburg Rescue worked diligently and as a result, the child was alert and crying upon transport to the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. The child's care was transferred to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for continued observation, police said.
