OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg Free Academy Key Club advisers James Reagen and Christina Frank and William and Maureen Hosmer on behalf of Hosmer’s Marina were presented with the Ogdensburg City School District 2019 Annual Civic Award at Monday’s Board of Education meeting.

The award recognizes certain organizations or individuals for making a significant contribution to the education and well being of the children and young people of the City of Ogdensburg and the school district.

“Since 1993, Jim has served as the Kiwanis adviser for the OFA Key Club, joined by Christina as faculty adviser in 2005. During their tenure, the club has been lauded as one of the top student community service organizations in all of Key Club International, with more than 265,000 members in 38 countries across the globe,” Superintendent Kevin Kendall said during the award presentation

Kendall noted that the OFA Key Club sponsors two talent shows annually and members regularly volunteer through reading to children at the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, serving as ushers at Ogdensburg Command Performances, and collecting supplies for the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center and SPCA, among many other community endeavors.

“Jim and Christina both subscribe to the philosophy that students do far more than they do as advisers, and if they have done their job as advisers well, the students will carry that leadership ability with them for life. I can’t agree more,” Kendall said.

Kendall also commended Hosmer’s Marina for its generous and continued support for OFA students and families.

“Hosmer’s Marina hosts numerous fundraising activities and events for district students of the Ogdensburg community. Thank you for the generous and continued support for our district and our community,” Kendall said.
