NORWOOD — Do a good deed and get a ticket.
Starting June 1 Norwood Police Department officers will begin its annual “Positive Ticket Program” in cooperation with the Hometown Café.
This will be the sixth year in which officers have the opportunity to issue children in the village "positive tickets" for good behavior.
Tickets specify the good things these children have done: Wearing bicycle helmets, helping their parents, volunteering, and more.
The tickets can be redeemed at Hometown Café for a free ice cream cone.
“This community program aims to improve community relations with law enforcement and encourages children to make good choices,” said Chief Shawn Wells. “Over the lifetime of this program, 317 ‘Positive Tickets’ have been issued to children in our community.”
Wells said the goal this year is 75 more tickets.
