NORWOOD -- The New York State School Boards Association presented Norwood-Norfolk Central with a “Champion of Change” award at the Tuesday, Nov. 17 school board meeting.
The award was given due to the success of the district’s “Kindness Challenge” program.
NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank said the school received notice a few months ago from NYSSBA that they would be recognized.
NYSSBA Director of Member Relations Barry Entwistle said that NYSSBA wanted to honor district’s that offer programs that might not be noticed by the public, but that actually make a difference.
“In my experience, three decades in education, this probably has the most impact of any program I’ve seen on kids and the adults that serve these kids,” Cruikshank said of the “Kindness Challenge” program.
The superintendent said it was “affirming to be recognized for such an honor.”
