POTSDAM — Andy Deon and Mike Forget, two original founders of the local band Divided Roads, traveled to Riverdale, the Bronx on April 13 to participate in a marathon benefit concert fundraiser.
The benefit was held at the An Beal Bocht Cafe for The Purple Hat Foundation. This is a non profit organization.
This was the 9th annual event, organized by Jeremy Bar-Illan. The fundraiser is in memory of Jeremy’s son Zachary, who lost his battle with Osteosarcoma in 2009 at age 17.
The An Beal Bocht Cafe hosted 19 acts for over 13 hours of music. The musicians donated their time and talent to raise money to donate to “Musicians on Call.” The non-profit organization brings live and recorded music to patient’s bedsides at hospitals nationwide. The musicians are volunteers and the funds raised help with meals and transportation incurred.
Prior to this event, Divided Roads held a local fundraising concert event at McDuff’s in Potsdam. The band donated their purse and the owner of McDuff’s donated all door cover charges plus an additional personal donation.
Andy Deon donated $1,000 check to Bar-Illan prior to performing. Divided Roads has been invited back to perform at the 10th annual benefit in 2020.
