NORFOLK – A Norfolk woman allegedly provided false information to county social services and received $15,013 in food stamp benefits she wasn't entitled to, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies.

Carolyn A. Relyea, 49, 59 S. Main St., Lot 14, Norfolk, reportedly received $8,000 in gifted income for the time period of June 2, 2006 through Oct. 31, 2011 and failed to report it to social services.

As a result, she received $15,013 in food stamp benefits that she was not entitled to.

She was charged with third-degree welfare fraud and three counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

She was ticketed and released on her own recognizance to appear in court at a later time.
