No new COVID cases reported in St. Lawrence County on Wednesday; over 8,000 tested

The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department says they learned of no new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, May 27. The total number of infections stands at 199.

There are now no COVID patients hospitalized, and 181 of those who have tested postitive have been released from isolation.

The county has tested 8,044 people for the coronavirus as of May 26.

Public Health reminds people that the NY on PAUSE order stands through Thursday, meaning there should be no non-essential gatherings of more than 10 people.

"The New York on PAUSE continues through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2020. This means, non-essential gatherings of greater than 10 individuals remain restricted. An executive order (202.33) issued by Governor Andrew Cuomo, amended Executive Order 202.32, to permit any non-essential gathering of ten or fewer individuals, for any lawful purpose or reason, provided that social distancing protocols and cleaning and disinfection protocols required by the Department of Health are adhered to," a statement from Public Health says. "If you are aware of any non-essential gatherings or any non-essential businesses or entities operating in violation of New York on PAUSE please call 1-833-789-0470 or go to: https://mylicense.custhelp.com/app/ask to file a complaint. The maximum fine for violations of the State’s social distancing protocols is $1,000."

Testing for COVID-19 can be arranged through local hospital systems. Call one of the following numbers between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. if you feel you should be tested. Tests are by appointment only:
