CANTON -- No jurors were seated today in the trial of a man accused of murdering a woman in Massena in 2014.

Christopher Hebert, 47, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Lacey Yekel, who was 25 at the time she was killed.

Jury selection for the trial will resume at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Hebert was arraigned in June 2018 in St. Lawrence County Court on an indictment charging him with Yekel’s murder.

He pleaded not guilty and has been held at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton.

In a prepared statement released at the time of Hebert’s arrest, St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua said Hebert is alleged "to have intentionally caused the death of then 25 year old Lacey Leigh Yekel, on or about June 7, 2014."

On Aug. 29, 2014, a body that police described at the time as “partially wrapped” was found across from the NYSARC bottle return, off state Route 420. It turned out to be Yekel.

State police say they made the forensic identification based on dental and DNA comparisons. Hebert's arrest comes on the heels of a nearly four-year investigation.
