National Weather Service still predicting snow/rain mix in parts of county over next few days

Posted

Although much of St. Lawrence County avoided snowfall last night and this morning, the National Weather Service is sticking to its prediction that traces of the white stuff are still on the way to parts of the county this weekend and into next week.

The southern portion of the county is likely to see the most accumulation, according to the NWS, beginning tonight with a 60 percent chance of a rain/snow mix and a possible accumulation of less than half an inch.

Rain and snow showers will likely continue into Saturday in southern St. Lawrence County with a 50 percent chance of precipitation and another half inch predicted.

The weather takes a break on Sunday, but the mix is expected to return Monday in southern areas and continue on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Slightly higher temperatures in the middle of the county should mean more rain than snow in that region over the next few days, according to the NSW.

In fact, there is only a slight chance (20 percent) of precipitation predicted for Saturday in the Potsdam area, and rain only is likely on Monday and Tuesday when temps climb toward 49 degrees.

And the same holds for the northern portion of the county through Wednesday, with rain predicted as the primary precipitation in Massena through Tuesday.
