MASSENA -- The Massena PAL chapter joined 400 other chapters nationwide by hosting an open house Tuesday, Jan. 14 as a continuation of celebrating national mentor month.
"Because we’re a new chapter we also chose to do a re-grand opening from our transition to Boys & Girls to the Police Activities League of Massena," writes Zachary Monroe, executive director, in an email to NCTW.
"We had in total roughly 40 different members of the community, local government officials, police department, MCS school teachers and administration come in to tour our facility, check out our programs, talk to kids, staff and board members and learn more about what 'a day in the life of a PAL kid' really means, Monroe said.
"Cops were seen hanging out and playing games with the kids, and it was also our first chance to unveil our new state of the art e-sports arena to the community as well."
Twenty-one PAL members cut the grand opening ribbon and each member was given a piece of the ribbon to remember the club by as original members, said the executive director.
