MORRISTOWN -- A fire at the Morristown highway garage Saturday damaged the building and equipment, but officials say it could have been much worse.
"A quick response this morning from Brier Hill Fire and Morristown Fire departments are being credited for a quick knock down with a structure fire this morning at the Town of Morristown Highway Garage," St. Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services said officials said.
The fire was reported to 911 via an alarm at 9:56 a.m,.
Hammond Fire, Brier Hill Fire Auxiliary, Morristown Fire Auxiliary, County Car 1 and 4, supplied support on scene, officials said.
Heuvelton Fire was reportedly requested to scene but after fire was knocked down they were diverted to Morristown station. Alex Bay Fire was on standby at Brier Hill fire station.
"The maintenance garage and some equipment were heavily damaged.
Without the great response and teamwork by all this would of been a lot worse," officials said.
