MORRISTOWN -- The Morristown Central School Board of Education is expected to appoint Staci Vaughn as the next superintendent of schools at its meeting Feb. 25.

The appointment would be effective July 1, 2020, according to a press release from St. Lawrence – Lewis BOCES.

Former superintendent Doug McQueer accepted a position as superintendent at Hammond Central School last year, leaving the post vacant. Retired former Heuvelton Central Superintendent Susan Todd will act as interim superintendent until Vaughn begins on July 1, 2020.

After gathering feedback from stakeholders and community members following presentations by two finalists last month, the board has decided to move forward with the selection of Vaughn for the position.

Vaughn has over a decade of experience in education. She currently serves as elementary principal and Committee on Special Education (CSE) chairperson for the Lisbon Central School District, a position she has held since 2016. She previously served as CSE chairperson and school psychologist in the Lisbon School District, and in the Thousand Islands School District. She holds a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from St. Lawrence University, a certificate of advanced study in school psychology from SUNY Albany, and is a state and nationally certified school psychologist and a state certified school building leader and school district leader.

“We are confident that Staci brings the necessary skills, qualifications, and characteristics to make her a successful leader for the Morristown Central School District,” said BOE President Dave Young.

Salary will be negotiated as part of the Morristown board’s appointment.
