Morristown Central School closed for repairs to generator

MORRISTOWN — Morristown Central School was closed today due to repairs needed for the building generator.

“As you are aware, we have recently been forced to cancel after-school activities on multiple occasions due to issues with our generator that were caused by the severe weather experienced last month,” Superintendent Staci A. Vaughn said in a prepared statement. “The generator is “stuck” in emergency mode, causing it to run without being able to transition back to our regular National Grid electrical feed. The part needed to correct the problem arrived today, and we have coordinated with electricians and National Grid to begin repairs.”

To best accommodate repairs, MCS used an emergency closure day today.

School and all extra-curricular activities will resume as scheduled on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

“We appreciate your patience as we work through this issue,” she said. “Please contact the Main Office with any questions or concerns, and they will direct you to the appropriate party.”
