More lake effect snow due for St. Lawrence County through Friday a.m.

Posted

The National Weather Service in Burlington continues the lake effect Snow Advisory until 7 a.m. EST Friday for locations in southern St. Lawrence and Franklin counties.

Lake effect snow showers are expected to produce 3 to 7 inches of accumulation with localized higher amounts along the Jefferson and Lewis County border.

Lake effect snow bands will shift north into the southern portions of St. Lawrence and Franklin counties by late this afternoon and persist tonight before slowly abating toward sunrise on Friday.

Brief periods of moderate to heavy snow are expected within heavier snow bands.

Poor visibility and snow covered roadways will result in locally hazardous driving conditions.

Winds are expected to be southwest at 5 to 10 mph and temperatures will hit lows of 10 to 15.

Heavier lake effect snow showers will occasionally reduce visibility to a half mile or less.
