MASSENA – A Montreal-area earthquake was felt in northeastern St. Lawrence County this morning.
Michele Wallenhorst of Massena said she was "woken out of a deep sleep" at her East Avenue home when the earthquake struck about 7:30 a.m.
Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory reported the quake registered a magnitude of 3.9 and was located approximately 21 miles Northeast of Montreal.
CBC reported the quake at a magnitude of 4.5, but no damage resulted from the shake.
"I searched the Canadian news. Sure enough, there was an earthquake at the Epicenter in Montreal," said Wallenhorst.
A story from CBC regarding the earthquake can be found here.
