Meetings in Brasher Falls, Canton, Russell to explain how residents can apply for $1.2 million in housing rehab funds

With three grants of $400,000 for housing rehabilitation, the St. Lawrence County Planning Office and St. Lawrence County Housing Council have set meetings in Brasher, Canton and Russell to explain project plans and the application process.

In Brasher Falls, the meeting is at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20 in Town Hall, 11 Factory St.

The meeting in the village of Canton is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21 in the Municipal Building Courtroom on Main Street,

The Russell meeting will be in Town Hall, 3 Pestle St., at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28.

The three grants, in conjunction with available Housing Council funds, are expected to help rehab about 13 units each in Canton and Brasher and 12 units in Russell.

All residents --- homeowners, renters and landlords – who want to find out more about assistance are encouraged to attend the meetings.

Meeting places are accessible to people with disabilities; interpretation for hearing impaired people can be arranged by calling the county Planning Office at 379-2292 at least a week in advance of the meeting.
