Massena village wants info before joining town in marketing, branding proposal

MASSENA -- The village board wants more information before deciding on an offer from the town to split the cost of a Massena marketing and branding proposal.

Deputy Mayor Matt Lebire said Town Councilor Samuel Carbone proposed splitting the $24,584 evenly between the town and village.

However, he was reluctant to commit at Tuesday’s meeting.

“Are they looking for the village to be a silent partner and funding only? Are they looking at us to be part of the creative process?” Lebire said.

Lebire also believes that Boutique Air will have some involvement, but their role wasn’t clear to him.

"Would it be a third split? I'd like a little more context and details before making any decision,” Lebire said.

Mayor Tim Currier said he is going to try to get more information from town officials and report back for their July meeting.

The marketing project would be done by Jason Hendricks, who runs H3 Designs.

Lebire said he was “very optimistic” after talking to Hendricks about his vision.

"It’s a great idea, happy to hear they're moving forward with it, centralize everything on one branding message and one website. Consistency is a great thing,” he said.

Other trustees echoed Lebire’s opinion.

"It's a good step in the right direction ... whether we can afford it or whether we want to afford it, that's something else,” Trustee Albert Deshaies said.

"Sounds good but we need more details,” Trustee Francis Carvel said.
