MASSENA — Village officials took action on a number of items during the village board’s Jan. 17 meeting. The following actions were approved by board members:
• Passed a resolution to correct and refund erroneous taxes
• Agreed to sign a hold harmless with St. Lawrence County for services provided in 2023
• Authorized canvassing for a patrol officer with Massena Police Department
• Appointed John Roder to the Zoning Board of Appeals
• Authorized an agreement for rescue squad coverage at the Massena International Airport
Officials also took a moment to appoint newly elected volunteer fire chief Patrick O’Brien, First Assistant Chief Tom Miller and Second Assistant Chief Corey Debien.
