MASSENA — Massena Central School’s capital outlay project is moving forward after board of education members awarded a bid for the heating controls during a special meeting.
The low bidder was Core Climate, who is the district’s first maintenance vendor for the school’s control system.
The final bid awarded was for $83,218 which will be used to upgrade the school’s HVAC digital control system in the high school.
By updating the high school’s system, the system will be fully utilized district wide in all schools, officials say.
According to Ed Bernhauer, architect with IBI Group, the work on the high school control system will tied into the energy management system that has been installed as part of the district’s $49.6 million capital improvement project.
Turnaround time for the project should be two to three weeks, officials say.
Capital outlay project funding is part of the district’s annual budget approved by voters every year and allows the district to complete small scale projects without a permissive referendum.
