Massena school board places worker on administrative leave, okays appointments & other personnel actions

MASSENA -- The Board of Education voted in favor of appointments, an administrative leave, resignations and a retirement, among other personnel actions. The board ratified the actions at their June 18 meeting.

The board placed Robyn McGregor on administrative leave, effective May 26 to a to-be-determined date. She is a motor vehicle operator for the school district.

The board appointed Rachael Venne as a Nightengale Elementary teacher, effective Sept. 1, 2020 to Aug. 31, 2024 at a $40,281 salary.

The school board named Shelby Bero and Joanne Jocko as Mohawk Club advisors for which they will each receive a $1,000 stipend.

Twenty-one people were approved to conduct family home visits at a rate of $25 per visit, effective June 16 to Aug. 30. District officials said the program is paid for through a grant from NYSUT. Those approved to conduct visits include Christine Winston, Maria LePage, Amanda Taraska, Esther Nemier, Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Goodfellow, Tammy Burke, Cassandra Kotz, Susan Macaulay, Lisa Burlingame, Kassidy Ross, Anna Hendershot, Megan Castell, Wendy Serguson, Ann Hazelton, Mary Margaret Bellinger, Courtney Beaulieu, Van Alexander, Erin McLear, Nick Coriglano and Jessica Jarrett. Kristen Collarusso-Martin was approved as a family home visit substitute on a volunteer basis.

The board accepted resignations from Jefferson Elementary teaching assistant Rachael Janos (effective June 15) and high school art teacher Meagan Fontanes (effective June 26).

The board approved retirement for Nightengale Elementary teacher aide Shari Tyo, effective June 30.

The board approved Allen Rowledge as a director of transportation substitute from July 1 to Dec. 31 at $250 per day for up to 72 days.

The board also granted final tenure to more than a dozen people: Margaret Farrell (high school physical education teacher, effective Sept. 4), Alexander Kormanyos (high school physical education teacher, effective Sept. 3), Christopher Sanchez (high school social studies teacher, effective Sept. 1), Megan Castell (Jefferson Elementary school psychologist, effective Sept. 1), Ann Simpson (Madison Elementary teaching assistant, effective Aug. 31), Kimberly Kargoe (Madison Elementary special education teacher, effective Aug. 31), Kristen LaCombe (Madison Elementary teacher, effective Sept. 1), Shannon Oldenburgh (Madison teaching assistant, effective Sept. 1), Maureen Frary (Nightengale Elementary teacher, effective Sept. 23), Katie Romeo (Nightengale special education teacher, effective Sept. 1), Caitlin Walton (Nightengale music teacher, effective Sept. 1), Erin Cootware (Nightengale teaching assistant, effective Sept. 1), Stephanie Allen (district director of curriculum, effective Aug. 8), and Danielle Chapman (elementary principal, effective Sept. 22).

The board ratified the actions at their June 18 meeting.
