MASSENA -- The Salvation Army of Massena has begun accepting applications for holiday assistance. Families can apply for Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets.
Children age 12 and under as, of December 31, 2012, are also eligible for the Angel Tree Program to receive Christmas gifts this holiday.
Applications can be turned in at The Salvation Army office, 20 Russell Road, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Evening hours will be available on Friday, Nov. 2 by appointment. Appointments can be made at 769-5154.
Applicants must provide photo ID for all adults living in the household, identification for all children in the household, a rent receipt or copy of lease/mortgage, all household expenses and all income, including wages, SSI/SSD, public assistance, and child support. The documentation will be used to verify that each applicant is within the income guidelines and lives within the area covered by The Salvation Army of Massena.
The goal of The Salvation Army is to provide a holiday meal and toys to any families in need this holiday season.
