MASSENA -- The Massena Public Library will delay reopening their building to the public in response to the recent COVID-19 cluster in the village.
Library Director Elaine Dunne made the announcement on their Facebook page on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
“Due to the recent cluster of outbreaks of Covid 19 in Massena the Library will continue to remain closed to patron visits inside the building,” Dunne wrote on the library Facebook page. “With the safety of our staff and patrons as our priority, the library will remain closed to patron visits inside the building until the current local outbreak is well under control. We will continue to offer curbside services and encourage you to reserve materials online or by calling the library. We will revisit this decision on a weekly basis.”
The COVID cluster has resulted in at least 22 positive cases since late August, with over 150 people who may have had contacts with the positives.
The library will continue curbside pickup Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., 9:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
