MASSENA — A Massena native won his most recent mixed-martial arts fight by submission victory.

Massena Central graduate and MMA fighter Edward Brown Jr won his most recent bout at the "Battle in Barre 10" in Barre, Vt., hosted by Donnybrooke Fight Promotions.

Matched up versus Steve "Thriller" Miller, Brown won 46 seconds into the second round after placing his opponent in a triangle choke, forcing a tap out.

“This was an emotional victory for Edward as his grandfather Ronnie Brown (Massena) was in attendance,” said Ed Brown Sr., the fighter’s father. “Edward credits his grandfather for his passion for fighting and the martial arts. His grandfather is an 8th degree black belt in karate who has been training for 40 years.”

Brown Jr. currently resides in South Carolina where he trains at an MMA gym. He is training with hopes of becoming a pro fighter soon.

His entire fight can be viewed on youtube by searching Donnybrooke Fight Promotions or by clicking here.
