Massena Memorial Hospital hires new physician assistant

MASSENA -- Massena Memorial Hospital recently hired Physician Assistant Cassandra LaShomb. She sees children ages four and up through adulthood and is now accepting new patients.

She diagnoses and treats acute and chronic illnesses, provides preventative services and routine health screenings, and focuses on patient education to help individuals adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

This news should not be concerning to any patients of neurologist Dr. Kejan Tang, as LaShomb will continue to see patients at Massena Neurology as well. She just wants to expand her practice to include primary care.

Since LaShomb is now a part of both the MMH Neurology and Medical Group staff, she is splitting her time between these two practices. LaShomb is available to provide primary care to patients on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

LaShomb has joined Dr. Rohit Barreto and Dr. Matthew Prionas at the MMH Medical Group to increase access to primary care services. She started her career as a physician assistant with Massena Memorial Hospital in 2015. She graduated with her master’s degree in physician assistant studies with honors from Daemen College.

LaShomb is proficient in treating include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, pneumonia, strep pharyngitis (strep throat), ear infections, urinary tract infections, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, anxiety and depression, among other conditions. LaShomb’s ability to care for patients with various health needs certainly makes her a great primary care provider and addition to the MMH Medical Group team.
