CANTON – A Massena man accused of firing a stolen rifle at another man in the village of Massena earlier this fall was indicted Thursday by a St. Lawrence County grand jury on an attempted assault charge.
John Colby, 41, 31 Spruce St., was charged with first-degree attempted assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
It is alleged Colby shot one round out of a .22 bolt action rifle at 21-year-old Ryan Grant on Sept. 4.
In other grand jury action:
Gerald Dissottle Sr., 52, an inmate at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility and formerly of Massena, was indicted on a felony count fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
It is alleged Dissottle was in possession of more than one-eighth ounce of cocaine on Sept. 30 in the Village of Massena.
It was also noted that Dissottle was convicted in county court of third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance on July 16, 2016.
Stanley Stewart Jr., 29, of 405 Lake Road, Star Lake, was indicted on charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
It is alleged that Stewart was operating a motor vehicle on June 19 in the Town of Fine with his ability impaired by drugs while his operating privileges were suspended or revoked.
