A Massena area student will appear in The Seaway Valley Theatre Company's newest virtual endeavor in mid-August.

The theater company will soon unveil their new children’s production, “The Show Must Go Online!,” the company’s first ever online play.

Jordan DuBay, who also appeared in the company's production of Mary Poppins Jr. last summer, will play a role as a student Sandra Grade in the upcoming production.

The program features a frazzled drama teacher who sends a video message to her students from her home office, announcing that their production of “Brushes With Greatness: The Dental Hygiene Musical” has been canceled! She tries to hang up, but accidentally leaves the camera running as she receives a phone call from the principal who tells her that without the musical, the drama program will be shut down. Whatever will she do? Can her class save the day?

Created specifically to be performed remotely, this hilarious and one of a kind children’s show is directed by longtime SVTC member Amy Malyon.

The production features a cast of 15 talented young performers from the Cornwall area, who are portraying 22 characters.

“The Show Must Go Online!” premieres on Sunday, August 16 at 8 p.m. streamed on www.svtc.ca. The show will then be repeated on August 17 to 30.

Although viewing is free, “pay what you can” donations via PayPal to help the company finance future productions will be gratefully accepted.

This is a truly unique theatrical experience. For more information, visit the SVTC’s website and Facebook page. Be sure to follow the hashtag #SVTCTheShowMustGoOnline on social media, too. “The Show Must Go Online!” is presented through special arrangement with Beat By Beat Press.
