OGDENSBURG – The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a marshal training for the St. Lawrence International Junior Carp Tournament on Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Customs House area in Ogdensburg.
The 8th Annual St. Lawrence International Jr. Carp Tournament will be held on Aug. 19-21, with the Mort Backus and Sons Carp School kicking off the event on Thursday, Aug. 19 at the Madrid-Waddington High School. There are more than 70 participants registered this year.
Marshals must possess a valid NYS fishing license. The training will go through the proper techniques in netting, weighing and handling carp, as well as the rules of the tournament. Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact Suzanne Casaday at 386-4000 or scasaday@StLawrenceCountyChamber.org
Participants in the tournament are welcome to attend the Marshal Training if they would like to get a little practice in before the tournament.
