MASSENA -- A New Jersey man has been sentenced to over seven years in federal prison for bringing crack cocaine to Massena for distribution.
Thomas Critten, 30, of Jersey City, N.J., was sentenced Tuesday, Oct. 20 in federal court, according to an announcement from the Department of Justice and St. Lawrence County Sheriff Brooks Bigwarfe.
As part of his guilty plea, Critten admitted that on Dec. 20, 2018, he brought 104 grams of grams of crack cocaine to Massena with the intent of distributing it, DOJ said. Critten admitted he had hidden two bags of crack cocaine in his underwear, and that police discovered it during a search for an unrelated arrest. Critten admitted that he was to deliver the crack to a house in Massena, and was to be paid $1,000 for the delivery, DOJ said.
Chief United States District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby also imposed a four-year term of supervised release, to begin after Critten’s release from prison, DOJ said.
This case was investigated by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy Anderson.
